This working paper looks at the role of performance indicators (PIs) in monitoring widening participation to higher education. These indicators are published on an annual basis by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) for HEIs in the whole of the UK. The Scottish Funding Council (SFC), drawing on the HESA data pro vides data specifically linked to Scottish domiciled students.
